Relishing the Little

To my fellow Voiceover Actors and Creatives,
In my previous post, I mentioned "Glory to the Small". Now I want to pick up where I left off by "Relishing the Little".
When we watch Television, whether it's an animated cartoon, or a Feature Film, we immediately focus on the main characters and the immediate story that is occurring. It's not intentionally a bad thing at all. It's part of the entertainment experience.
Behind the scenes, we involuntarily tend to overlook a character, an actor, an actress, or even a set of characters. Or we ourselves, as performers, don't feel we have been given recognition for smaller roles we book...
When I first saw the third Transformers movie, I was focused more on Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) and Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeoff) for most of the film.
It wasn't until I LISTENED more carefully, with my ears, that I realized that Leonard Nimoy and Charlie Adler were also in the film. 😯
Charlie Adler was performing the voice for Starscream and Leonard Nimoy was the voice for Sentinel Prime.
At the time, I couldn't believe I overlooked and missed two great cast members.
The Voices and Actors who I had seen and heard in previous movies and TV shows before were not easily recognized. Especially with all the action. But I still cheered when I heard them and saw their names in the credits.
Big or Small, remember that every role and every performance that we see, or perform, counts. Each performance deserves a level of praise and gratitude; I'm grateful I was able to audition, I am glad I got to perform this role in this movie, and I am glad the audience enjoyed the performance.
