Summertime: Fun and Adventure outside of the booth...

To my fellow voiceover actors, creators, and collaborators,

We are 8 days into the Summertime now, and I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who enjoys reading these blog posts by yours truly. In many posts, I have shared what life can be like, either behind the microphone, while recording narrations, characters, and answering casting calls in my booth. I have been given great advice from well-known and respected Coaches and Mentors in the industry at Edge Studio,s and even over Zoom workshops and phone calls.

In previous posts, I mentioned "Glory to the Small" and "Relishing the Little." About how even the smallest performance an actor gives matters in the film. I know I have applied this concept to music as well, starting with a small sound and then turning the various notes and rhythms, sharps and flats, and joining them to turn it into an orchestra, or a very meaningful song on the piano for a listener...

So, there we were, my dad and I, on the set of CLAY. We were on a movie set, cheering, following directions, and we were enjoying the process of performing.

Even though I was one of many background extras, everyone in the cast and film crew treated us nicely. Everyone there on set was treated as part of the same team. There was collaboration, and I hope to see the film magic we all made together next year.

One part I will never forget is how grateful I was for my dad, who told me that someone named Eastwood was there. While my thoughts immediately thought Clint Eastwood was going to be on set, like in his film, "Million Dollar Baby", I was shocked and wowed when I realized that a young woman who had a resemblance to Clint, back when he was in his prime, came by.

Surprised, I asked the woman if she was in any way related to Clint. She told me that Clint Eastwood was her father. Then she told me that her name was Francesca. Still wowed, I shook her hand, told her it was nice to meet her, and I asked her about an autograph I received in response to my fan letter. It was from Malpaso Productions.

And she told me that "Daddy is very good about signing and mailing autographs to fans." She allowed me to have a picture taken with her, and we were asked to come back and finish filming a scene when the break was over.

It was something I will never forget. And I owe my parents gratitude for allowing me to go to the set that day. The adventure didn't end there because after filming a few scenes of CLAY, I was invited to be in another film, an action comedy film called Sugar Boys.

Following a similar casting process, I was hired to perform as a Secret Service Agent. And thanks to a stunt coordinator, I was able to do my own stunts in the film.

If my intel is correct, this fun and awesome film will come out THIS SUMMER!

In the meantime, while I am looking forward to seeing lots of movie magic this summer, with the premieres of new films, I am also helping with another project this month, finishing up a SAG-eligible film, Lecrutius Rising, directed by Scott Crossman.
