To my fellow voiceover actors, and creatives, I want to share something about the day I met Scott Burns... About a year ago, I commented on Instagram, and sometime a while ago, Scott Burns reached out to me, told me he loved my Demo Reel, and that he was happy that I enjoyed his voiceover performance of Bowser!
I got a letter and an autographed image of Bowser and Scott side by side. And it read, "Luke, how dare you ruin my Vacation! Bwah hahaha". Anyway, it was really awesome!
Went into a coaching session with one perspective for a character, before an audition. And then I rehearsed with a coach named Charlie Adler. We trained for an hour, and I was given a great tool for becoming a great actor and performer about "Playing against it" and "being Spontaneous."
After the audition, I went back and used all the knowledge I had gained before and during the session to deliver three amazing takes of the same scene for the client. Whether I got the part is TBD.
Having Education and gaining Knowledge is always handy to better your acting performances and more!
Special thanks to Dan Friedman, who helped me rehearse a radio host voice. Dan advised me to open up my jaw more. I added some grit, thought about rock and roll, closed my eyes, and pronounced each word as directed.
The result was a more believable, rock-star radio character voice.
